A popular Catholic priest, Father Cutie, has been making the tabloids lately for behaving like a normal man who is interested in women (I'll bet the Pope was, at least, glad he wouldn't have to pay off another boy's family). Cutie had accidentally taken a female lover and the church and its little old ladies and doting priests are all heartbroken and distraught that a man so well known would be such a scum bucket. They call him "Father Oprah" or something, because of his yo-yo dieting I think. Anyway, Cutie has recently renounced his Catholic faith for the Episcopal Church to be with his lover.

  • Scientology on trial in France

Its tough to write about Scientology on a God blog, since their god is a guy named Xenu who nuked Earth ten thousand years ago, or whatever. But, everybody's favorite pyramid scheme/cult is back in the news lately and boy these guys cannot buy a break.

First it was a worldwide web assault by the faceless Anonymous, then Germany wouldn't let Star Commander of the Earth and Operating Thetan Tom Cruise film his movie there and now the French are hammering on them in court for fraud and misuse of a prescription medication.

First of all, you need to pay your way into Scientology, which to me is a good sign my spirituality is not in good hands.

Secondly, their founder, L. Ron Hubbard was a Science Fiction writer. So a sci-fi writer starts a religion where the main deity is an alien named Xenu, and people believe this stuff?

Thirdly, what the hell is wrong with people?

  • A filtering sytem of God and Earthly decisions on Gay Marriage

    Add Comment

Ironic?Ironic?Today the California Supreme Court ruled in support of Prop 8, California's controversial law that bans gay marriage. Everything from Facebook to Twitter to news websites are ablaze with both sides of the debate.

For the most part, the gay marriage ban is rooted in religious dogma. It is well known the Mormons put millions into helping Prop 8 (Prop H8), because Mormons are one of the few faiths with the balls to stand behind their literature, despite its natural bigotry. For the religious it must feel nice to lean back into their Lazy-Boys, snap the paper bearing the news that California gays can't get married and fade back to Sportscenter with another moral nightmare averted. Nevermind the millions of couples who can no longer inherit from their lovers estate (in absence of will), have hospital visitation, enjoy tax breaks, and many other trivial rights that straight married couples enjoy.

  • Cheesus Rice On A Chex Mix Cross: Jesus In Food

Recently, a terminally white couple named Dan and Sara Bell from my second favorite state, the lost chunk of Mars called Texas, found an irregular Cheeto and came to the only conclusion one can expect from a rational mind in that situation: That they had stumbled upon yet another image of the Savior Himself as He appears in popular foodstuffs. The salty snack, just the most recent in a long line of divine edibles dubbed "Cheesus", drew the attentions of the ever-more-illustrious media minds at CNN.

  • Trump let's free speech live, and Miss California to keep her crown

Donald Trump waves his hand, and it was good.Donald Trump waves his hand, and it was good.Big wig Donald Trump (pun very much intended) announced today that he will allow Miss California Carrie Prejean, who cited her Christian faith as her reason for standing up against gay marriage, to keep her title in the wake of her Bible based hate speech. Trump cited 'the 21st century' and acknowledged Miss Prejean's career as a model as his reasons for allowing her to keep the title in lieu of several nude pictures of her that have come to light since she lied about taking them to slip into the Miss CA crown.

  • Who Follows Him - To Know God pt. 2

    Add Comment

Perhaps the most prevalent assumption that comes up if we pursue to seek out such a lofty goal as “knowing God” is the notion that we already do.  That we, most likely in a position of inferiority to a superior being, understand the will, characteristics, and inner workings of a much superior being.  The study of “God” should be a lengthy one, and the pursuit of knowing him an exponentially increasing and lifelong task.

Miss California Carrie Prejean in a Christian pose.Miss California Carrie Prejean in a Christian pose.Miss California Carrie Prejean is a moral hypocrite. I get very tired of people trying to impose their will and beliefs on everybody else. Who cares if gays get married? How does that take away from the love a Christian man has for his wife? Does it take away from the sanctity of marriage any more than "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire"? Or 'The Bachelor', where marriage is trivialized to the point of being a game show prize? At least with gay marriage there might actually be some love involved somewhere.

Chrisitianity offends me to no end, all the judging, all the uppity know I'm right attitude, the assuredness of having YOUR god behind you, the social projecting. All those stupid Jesus fish eating the Darwin fish that say 'truth' on them, like science is some big lie out to convince everyone that dinosaurs existed and math works.

Well this doesn’t seem very Christian. Torture is what they did to Jesus on the cross, right? The study found that around 54 percent of regular church going folks feel that torture is “often” and “sometimes” justifiable. Where as the sinners who rarely or never attend church services lingered around 42 percent, 12 points lower.

How did Swine Flu start a religious conflict in Egypt? Well, Swine Flu, which may or may not come from pigs depending on who you ask, (unless you ask the World Health Organization who say it doesn't) is to blame. Anyway, this has caused the majority Muslim population of Egypt (who don't eat pork) to decide on slaughtering the entire national stock of swine, er... pigs. All 350,000 of the little squealing porkers.
