Islam vs. Pigs and the Christians who love them.

How did Swine Flu start a religious conflict in Egypt? Well, Swine Flu, which may or may not come from pigs depending on who you ask, (unless you ask the World Health Organization who say it doesn't) is to blame. Anyway, this has caused the majority Muslim population of Egypt (who don't eat pork) to decide on slaughtering the entire national stock of swine, er... pigs. All 350,000 of the little squealing porkers.

The problem is that the majority of pig farmers in Egypt are Christian. And live in slums. And collect garbage. Just to have it. The farmers believe the government slaughter is the result of prejudice hidden behind a sick pig mask. I'm sure the Muslims have been trying to get rid of pigs for hundreds of years, but Christians just can't give up the bacon, and who can blame them?  Bacon is good, even during flu season. The pigs would probably want someone to tell the Egyptian government about what the World Health Organization's assistant general director Dr. Keiji Fukuda said, that being this: "We don't see any evidence that anyone is getting infected from pigs." But who is Dr. Keiji Fukuda of the WHO to stand in the way of an angry religious mob with the Koran on their side? As the old justification goes, if it saves even one person to slaughter every last Egyptian pig, then so be it.

When swine flu broke, Muslims across the land must have felt justified in their beliefs about the unholy filth of pigs, makes sense. Wonder what they will do to combat bird flu, or West Nile Virus...
