Love 1: Faith 0
A popular Catholic priest, Father Cutie, has been making the tabloids lately for behaving like a normal man who is interested in women (I'll bet the Pope was, at least, glad he wouldn't have to pay off another boy's family). Cutie had accidentally taken a female lover and the church and its little old ladies and doting priests are all heartbroken and distraught that a man so well known would be such a scum bucket. They call him "Father Oprah" or something, because of his yo-yo dieting I think. Anyway, Cutie has recently renounced his Catholic faith for the Episcopal Church to be with his lover.
OK, so if you don't like what your church does, you just switch? Hm, that's easy enough. Why all this finger pointing and sin talk? If it's as easy as simply changing faiths, then who cares at all. Does each church have its own Heaven and Hell with its own set of standards? Is there more than one Jesus? I don't get it. He was a leading figure in the Catholic Church, so I would assume the rules of the faith were important to him on some level, at some point in his life. If you can just switch, doesn't the real God (whichever one that is) get mad? Is he just following love or does he now think he has a better shot at Heaven with his new faith? Everybody knows logic is not one of the church's strong suits, but its as if all these rules were made here on Earth by MEN. Someone help. I'm confused. It's as if church doctrine doesn't matter at all, it's more about finding a Jesus who agrees with YOU.
