I was doing some research about the number of people in our country who believe in God and claim to be Christians, and I must say I am quite shocked when I look at the figures.
To me, it seems like there are so many anti-Christians in this world, and so many people who argue with the Bible and Biblical principles. Why, I wonder then, do 92% of people in the U.S. say they believe in God? This number comes from the Gallup polls and was conducted in 2011. This number is slightly lower than polls taken from 1953 to 1967, where the percentage was at 98%.
On the flip side to this, only 77% of people claim to be Christians, as of 2008. I do understand that the difference in these numbers may be accounted for the belief in other “gods,” but the part I do not understand is the 77%. If this were true, why is it that it appears that anti-Christian groups are taking over this country? Why is it that God has been removed from public schools and buildings? And, why is it that it seems as though Christians are losing all of their rights?
Isn’t a Christian a person that believes in God and believes that the Bible is God’s Word? I am certainly not trying to judge here, but if the 77% of people who say they are Christians really were; wouldn’t our country be heading in a different direction?
Think about this. If you are a Christian, do you support the Bible? Do you support Christian views? And so on. We, as Christians, must take a stand for what we believe in. This of course does not mean starting trouble. It simply means that we need to cling to our beliefs and vote for leaders in our country that will help keep these values in our country.
