I wouldn't start an article by calling the well-respected Richard Dawkins "overly pompous" if you want people to continue reading.

Ever wear an "I'm an atheist" t-shirt? Might help figure this issue out. But i see your point. And i agree about Dawkins...

I agree with a lot of what he says but I happen to think he's kind of Pompous.....that is a good point, tho.

I don't think that atheists are not discriminated against, I just think there are many other minorities who are more discriminated against...

I think his point is that on paper when it says "Atheist" people are reviled by it, but they deal with atheists on a daily basis it just never comes up. So its not as obvious as being black, Hispanic or on some folks, gay can be pretty obvious too. So, because atheists are 'covert' they are not 'bashed' or fired or stuff like that. I have had friends parents go cold on me when it comes out that Im an atheist.

Yes, I agree that gays/minorities have it tougher, but perhaps if atheists had a 'look' they might see equal bigotry. Fortunately we don't look any different from God fearing folks, unless we are black, openly gay etc. as well.

I agree somewhat, but think it depends where in the country you live, too.

When I was younger, I drove all over the place with a Darwin Fish Bumper sticker on my car and a "Jesus Save me From Your Followers Bumper sticker" and was flipped off a grand total of once during that entire time.
