I was strolling through my alma mater yesterday when I saw a rather confused man handing out copies of Origin while yammering on about Jesus. These books were distributed by a faith group led by noted child actor Kirk Cameron, who obviously is in a great position to criticize one of the most intelligent ideas ever conceived, due to his highly technical career in acting. I would like to know more about his thoughts on the theory of gravity, relativity, and chemistry.

Ray Comfort, aka Banana Man, has been on a major quest to debunk science. He made that dumb-ass video calling the banana an “atheist’s nightmare” because it was created by God FOR man. He cites its peel, ergonomic form and ease of entry into the mouth as evidence for God. He also later apologized saying he didn’t know the banana had such a strong history of human hybridization, i.e. man-controlled evolution. So, even his apology was a disgrace to anyone who can think.

I’m going to write one phrase, it’s not a big phrase, it doesn’t prove anything, but it’s a piece of thought that should make a lot of sense: Everything is changing, even life.

Creationists want everything to be stagnant. They want the Bible to always apply. But the thing is, when your ‘evidence’ is “And God said let there be light” it doesn’t help anyone out. It doesn’t cure diseases, it doesn’t feed the poor, it doesn’t end wars, it doesn’t advance humanity, it is just a collection of words arranged in a certain order. It leaves tremendous gaps in knowledge and misleads people away from true knowledge. Science is a procedure to discover information, it is not a systematic attack on religion. If the information discovered by science conflicts with the Bible, well too bad, Your book is old. And you are embarrassing yourself.

So creationist, next time you reach for your remote control, microwave your food, enjoy antibiotics or drive to church, remember all of those acts would not be possible without the dedication of the same scientific process that led to evolution. If you removed evolution from the scientific record, almost all of life science would collapse, including your midicines, farming, animal husbandry, etc. Don’t pick and choose science, learn it.

Peanut butter man, similarly idiotic ‘science’ Ever heard of the Straw Man fallacy?
