Faith Demands Ignorance: Mormons

Joseph Smith: LDS founder.The Mormon Church was founded when a man with a rock in his hat was allegedly guided to two gold slabs bearing the stories of lost Biblical characters and their lives in the pre-Colombus Americas. The slabs were naturally reclaimed by the angel Moroni, so that evidence is gone. The "seer stone" used by the church's founder, Joseph Smith, is itself an item of black magic, which is a christian no-no.

One of the biggest, most ignorant fallacies of logic exists in the demonstrable plagiarism used by Smith to write his Book of Mormon, based on the golden plates. The Book of Mormon, if translated from ancient plates that had been buried for 1500 years, could not possibly bear the text of the King James Bible (written between 1604 and 1611 in England) and more significantly, text from Ethan Smith's View of the Hebrews, (written in 1823). So how did ancient plates, found by a guy with seeing stones in his hat and a failed career of treasure hunting, contain these modern texts inside them? Well, cynics often use the case of Achum's Razor, which states the simplest explanation is often the best explanation: So...

Did Joseph Smith find two ancient plates buried in Palmyra, New York, then magically copy the "reformed Egyptian" and translate them only to have them taken away by an angel: OR did he hodegpodge together a 'holy book' from other existing texts and his own ideas to become the prophet of his own religion? Well, obviously I will choose the latter, being the owner of my own penis, I understand the desire to take multiple wives and create an aura of righteousness around myself.

In conclussion, to believe in this religion, you have to become ignorant to the many obvious logical fallacies implicit in the holy texts. The LDS has routinely protected and horded original church documents because of the fear of the incoherent scriblings of their prophet Smith being exposed. So much so that they have routinely paid huge amounts of money for fraudulent documents. They also excommunicate people who take this stance or dig for the truth. Aside from the Moutain Meadow Massacre and cover up, the polygamy mess, total lack of archeological evidence, the splinter FLDS and all the horid door knocking there are the problems with the holy texts at the base of this faith. Joseph Smith had hundreds of 'revelations' including the polygamy one after he started banging the house maid, whom he married. How nice. After his violent death another great Mormon leader rose to take the group to Utah, he was Brigham Young (55 wives). And the story of the Mormons was solidified with a slain/martyred prophet , exodus and deliverance of a promised land.
