Islam: Doin it Right
Someone needs to update their profileIslam, in my opinion, is the only church that does it right. First off, they defend their main man Muhammad. It states clearly that no image shall be made of their prophet, and they try hard to make sure that is enforced. Most recently threats were made against the creators of South Park for their typically crass presentation of Muhammad, and I can't say I disagree with the scathing review. And everyone remembers the Danish cartoon that caused riots across the world. Or when those righteous Muslims killed Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh for criticizing Islam. If shanking a mediocre filmmaker on his way to get coffee is what makes you a 'better Muslim' than by all means, shank the guy. The highest order has demanded it, after all. I give the Muslims credit for taking their faith seriously.
Christians on the other hand, timid and sloppy in their practice of their faith by comparison. There are just so many rules and stories they take lightly, or say 'we don't believe that part'. Bill Maher said it best to CNNs Anderson Cooper. And thank God for Maher for speaking truth, actual, unslanted-by-religion truth. This is one of my favorite arguments against Christians, how can some things be taken literally while others are not? Who said that to you? Where did Jesus or God clear that decision? They didn't, people on Earth did it. And to Gay people, Christianity is clearly against it, at least for men, so don't twist the faith to fit your lifestyle. It doesn't want you and yet you support it anyway and say it does want you. I don't get it. Do like the Mormons, start your own faith that fits your lifestyle, don't bend another crappy one to fit you. We'll call it Gaymanism, and the holy book will condemn straight people and soon Fundamental Gaymenist groups will start forming militias in San Francisco basements and blowing up Catholic churches.
Real issues are whether people have water to drink, food to eat and clothing to wear. Dumb shit waste of time issues are things like rioting over a cartoon, making gay marriage a major political issue, getting on a bus with dynamite strapped to you because someone has a different idea, telling dead soldier's families that their kids are in Hell, putting pedophiles at the heart of families... these are things our world doesn't need. There are enough real issues to handle without having to navigate the insane and imaginary world of faith. I for one am convinced that, at least a few, of the US founding fathers demanded freedom of religion to protect their own right to not be forced into it.
A couple facts about Muhammad's likeness:
There are several "Draw Muhammad" movements.
There is a 'symbolic' likeness of Muhammad in the US Supreme Court Building: Tourist materials include this: "The figure is a well-intentioned attempt by the sculptor to honor Muhammad, and it bears no resemblance to Muhammad. Muslims generally have a strong aversion to sculptured or pictured representations of their Prophet."
All I'm saying is that if we're playing for eternity, the Muslims are winning.
