Logic vs. Mysticism on Nightline Tonight
End of Faith: by Sam HarrisTonight on CBS's show Nightline, there will be a debate between four people. Two men, Michael Shermer and Sam Harris, who will use information from the history of the world, multiple scientific disciplines, evidence and other knowledge accumulated throughout the entire existence of man to make their point. Two other people, Deepak Chopra and Jean Houston, will cite the same old book as 'evidence'. It should be a one-sided affair with a knowledge of the world on one side and the confined and narrow perspective of an ancient collection of manmade stories. On one side you will hear logic and evidence and thoughtfulness. On the other you will hear anecdotes, stories and wishful thinking. No evidence. Just more emotional regurgitation and hope that we will see grandma when we die.

If you had to figure out any solution, would you gather information and try to make sense of it? That's science. Trying to figure out wht is going on.
The God argument is tired, simplistic and boring. Everything you sense is God. God made evolution, God made human knowledge, God made the Earth to test each man to see if they are worthy of the other place he created, Heaven. So, as usual, the answer is "God did it" which sorta takes the fun out of it.
You either look around and see that there is a lot of stuff that is not explained by the "All encompassing" "All-seeing" God of the Bible. And science can't explain everything either. That is a mistake that Bible-bangers often make. So, again, you either look around and try to figure it out, or you take the book from a friend and cut the world off to allow the Bible to explain everything to you, despite its shortcomings, ommissions, moral errors and BS.
