Everyone has heard of setting New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of a new year, but do you do this? I have never been extremely fond of resolutions, and this is probably because I always fail at them. But I have to wonder why I fail. Is it because I have no self-discipline; or is it because I set my goals too high?
Well, it could be either of these things, or it could be a completely different reason. I think that part of the problem is that my lifestyle doesn’t always match my heart. My heart believes in God and wants to honor and serve Him in everything I do, but the way I live my life doesn’t always reflect this. Because a new year is beginning I have been thinking a lot about this. There are many ways I could improve my lifestyle to better match my beliefs, but I need to figure out how to accomplish it and be successful at it.
I wrote a post about three ways to become closer to God. This is accomplished through daily prayer life, reading the Bible daily and fellowshipping with other Christians. I am going to take my own advice and try to turn this into a habit in my life. I am not going to call it a resolution however, because I always feel like I fail at those things. If I can simply make these three things a priority in my life, my lifestyle will start to appear more like heart and my true feelings.
