I have been a Christian my entire life and have always celebrated Christmas. The whole holiday season is probably one of the busiest times of the year for me, and many other people I’m sure. There are deadlines, shopping that needs to be done, baking, Christmas programs, cards to write and send, and so much more. Because of all of this, I tend to lose myself in my duties and forget the entire purpose of this special holiday.
Christmas is Jesus’ birthday. It is a time to celebrate His birth and a time to remember the reason why God sent Jesus to us. I have to come up with a way to remember this. Of course, on Christmas Eve, when I’m gathered with my family, and we attend a Christmas Eve service, the reason easily comes to mind. My problem is that I want to have a heart of gratitude during the entire season and I’m not sure how to accomplish this.
I think that one important way to remember this and accomplish it, is by making sure that my prayer life is completely in place during this season. Too many times, I forget the importance of prayer and I don’t make it a necessity. Another way I can accomplish this is by making sure that I am reading God’s Word daily. By taking time to do these two important things, I am hoping that I can remember the true meaning of this holiday season. Christmas time is the best time of the year, in my opinion, and it is the season to be thankful for the gift God has given us.
