This year I had made a decision to become closer to God. I started making time each day to read my Bible instead of trying to squeeze time in. I even started a journal that I write in each day about my thoughts, feelings and the things God reveals to me when I read His Word. This is where the troubles began.
Shortly after I begin religiously doing these things (no pun intended), everything began to go wrong. I won’t get into the details here, but trust me when I say that everything went wrong. It seemed like one bad thing after another started to happen to me. I felt like I was in a deep, dark hole, but I continued reading my Bible and writing in my journal.
As I was reading the Gospels in the New Testament, I read several times about Satan tempting Jesus and this reminded me of my life. I realized that Satan wants to bring me down and he certainly wants to stop me from my daily devotions, but you know what – I was not going to let him.
After ten days of things going wrong, I said out loud that I was not going to let him stop my faith. I also said that I was going to continue putting my trust and faith in God. The next morning when I woke up, almost everything that had gone wrong was suddenly changing. Things started turning around for the better. In fact, everything was now going right.
This is why I thought of Jesus being tempted. Jesus stood His ground and did not let Satan sneak in; not even a little. When Satan realized this, he left Jesus alone. God always comes through, even when you feel like you have no hope. If you feel like you are in this situation, listen to the song by Kutless called “What Faith Can Do.”
