Over the years I have heard so many people say, “I believe in God and am a Christian, but I don’t like churches.” Why is this? Well, most people who say things like this say it is because they feel like people in churches judge them. They say people who go to church are hypocrites and they would rather not subject themselves to that.
As Christians this is unacceptable. Is this really how God wants us to react to others? I don’t think so. I have read the entire Bible from front to back, several times in my life. What I read all really goes back to one subject – love. Isn’t the main message in the Bible for us to love others? God demonstrates His love for us by sending Jesus to this earth to live as a man and then to die for us. When Jesus walked this earth, did He judge others or did He love others? Jesus visited with those who were considered to be lower than others. Isn’t this an example of how we should act?
My point here is this. If you are a Christian, your job is not to judge anyone. That is God’s job. The job God gave us is to love. Next time you see someone that you think is a “sinner,” try going out of your way to love that person instead of making them feel like you are judging them. It is our job as Christians to set a good example of what it means to live a Christian life; so let’s join together and start loving everyone!
