There has been always been a question about the day the Last Supper of Jesus and the Disciples was held. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke state that the Last Supper was held at the start of Passover which would have been a Thursday. The Gospel of John says that the Last Supper was held just before Passover which would have been on a Wednesday or earlier. This would have allowed more time for the events in the Gospels to play out before Friday which some scholars say is the day of the Crucifixion. Some authorities try to reconcile the discrepancy between the Gospels by saying that the writers used different calendars. This debate has raged for centuries.

Now Cambridge Professor Colin Humphreys has weighed in with his own theory for the day of the week for the Last Supper in his book “The Mystery of the Last Supper.” Humphreys agrees with the argument that different calendars were being used by the Gospel Writers. Humphreys concludes that Jesus, Matthew, Mark and Luke were using an old Jewish calendar while John was referencing the official lunar calendar. Humphreys says that the actual day of the Last supper was Wednesday.

One result of his analysis of dates of these Biblical events would be to fix an actual date for Easter in the modern solar calendar. According to Humphreys, the Last Supper was Wednesday, April 1. This would place the Crucifixion on Friday, April 3^rd and Easter on Sunday, April 5^th.

LAST SUPPER 2 DAYS BEFORE PASSOVER

Always use the bible to prove the bible. Mark chap. 14, verse one is clear, "It was 2 days before the festival of Passover and unleavened bread........." Jump to verse 3 "Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper. As HE sat at the table......." That cannot be more clear. We know the week that Jesus died that the "special Sabbath" as some bible refer to it is Passover, was on Thursday. The day of preparation ( cooking food ) ( Wednesday ) was always the day before a special sabbath or normal sabbath. The word play in the bible is clear regarding Jesus as being on the cross of "preparation day." He was taken down from the cross quickly near sunset, as sundown was the beginning of the next day or Passover. Remember that HE is the Passover lamb, or the food for us, we eat his words, so to speak. The whole week before Passover people would travel to get ready and be cleansed so they could celebrate properly, with respect. John 19 verse 14 says "It was the day of preparation for the passover, about noon, Pilate said to the Jews, "here is your king" Verse 16 "Then at last, to satisfy them, he handed jesus over to be crucified".

So, keeping the days in context, it was the day before Passover that Jesus was on the cross. For proper proof, so no arguement can be made, the old testament makes it clear that any lamb to be used in the Jewish temple sacricfice must be tested for 4 days before killing it, to prove it is without blemish and suitable before GOD. Exodus 12 verse 3 says "......On the tenth day of the month, let each man procure a lamb or kid for his family, one for each household. Verse 6, "Have it in safe keeping until the fourteenth day of the this month, and then all the assembled compnay of Israel must slaughter the victim between dusk and dark".

There are the 4 days of testing just as Jesus, the lamb of GOD, was tested for 4 days from Palm Sunday when HE rode into town ( king on a donkey ).From that Sunday until dusk on preparation day, Wednesday, when He was on the cross, was 4 days. Jesus was a perfect lamb, without blemish. Remember the bible tells us in the old testament that He shall be "cut off in the middle of the week" ( Wednesday ) As i mentioned up top, use the vbible to prove the bible. Do you want more proof? From the time of Jesus death at sundown ( between dusk and dark ) counting forward 3 days in the grave bring us to Saturday at dark. In Jewish OT times, dark is the beginning of the next day. The full 3 days that the bible mentions many times is very clear when you follow the words in the bible, word for word. At dark on Saturday, is the begining of Sunday or the "first day of the week."

It was the Church of Rome, the Roman Catholic church that started the lie about Good Friday about 460 years ago. There is no proof for the Good Friday teaching in the bible. Remember, it is the Church on seven mountains in the Book of Revelation. Revelation often refers to a church as a woman. The great "whore".
