You can't have dinosaurs AND reject science
Creation Museum MugAlright, so I have this mug from the religious institution known as the Creation Museum. The CM is a privately funded religious indoctrination facility designed to use the stories of the Bible to interpret everything in existence, including things not mentioned at all by the Bible. The museum discredits evolution as a man-made myth and follows the idea that the Earth is 6,000 years old and was created in six days by a hand wave of the almighty, who created us in his image, except for those with bad eyesight, club feet, harelips, mental deficiencies and the innumerable other afflictions “God’s creatures” have been afflicted with as a consequence of their pre-natal sins, I assume, or to test their parents faith, of course.
On this little Creation Museum mug is a triceratops. My favorite dinosaur since I was three. A pretty realistic image of a triceratops and the slogan “Prepare to believe” are printed on the mug. Here’s my gripe (with the mug): dinosaurs are ours. Science discovered, elaborated on, researched and identified all the fossil dinosaurs that have yet been discovered. So how does the Creation Museum, which denies evolution and science, usurp every kid’s favorite pre-historic creature? This is blasphemy. This is scientific sin. This is… marketing?
What good would a museum be without dinosaurs? And don’t these Christian lay-people understand the integral part dinosaurs play in the Theory of Evolution? Mass extinctions, life explosions and process of natural selection? Of course not. They just like their Bible and dinosaurs, and now, in this museum they have finally got their religious cake and can eat it too.
“See Timmy, man and dinosaurs lived together until the sinful dinosaurs, including all of their hundreds of known subspecies, both herbivore and predator missed the Ark. Not one dinosaur made it on.”
This country is full of people who confuse religion, fantasy and truth. They also don’t understand that science is always pushing into the unknown, considering new information, revising itself, unlike the holy books. Enjoy your fantasy, enjoy your stolen dinosaurs, but know that your TV wouldn’t work without the same scientific method that led to the theory of evolution. It is simply a process of discovery.
