A Response to “We Are the World: The Spirit of the World”- On the Mark or Way off Key? Part 2

USA for AfricaUSA for AfricaIn the first part of 'A Response to “We Are the World: The Spirit of the World”- On the Mark or Way off Key?' I brought to light a misguided criticism from the Later Days Minsitry blog regarding their attack on the song “We Are the World” and the argument that there is nothing positive from the secular world. There sheer volume of problems I found with this post warranted a continuation of this reponse.

A Response to “We Are the World: The Spirit of the World”- On the Mark or Way off Key?

USA for AfricaUSA for AfricaRecently, a group of “musicians” (and I use that term very loosely) committed audio sacrilege with a remake of “We Are the World” that is no doubt making Michael Jackson turn over in his grave. Now, the very spirit of the song itself is coming under attack. Even more ironic is that the song, which calls us to the love and charity that God asks of us, has come under fire by a christian blog. Being one of the last die hards from the “We Can Change the World” camps of the 80's, I felt a detailed response was in order.

Top Ten Reasons That God Doesn't Exist

God?God?I’ve heard a lot about this God bloke over the years and he sounds like a very nice idea but I must confess to some genuine misgivings about his existence. In fact I have a nagging doubt that simply won’t be shaken off despite hours of singing round a camp fire and sitting very still in a big room while a series of boring old men go on and on about their special book. Here are my top ten reasons why God doesn’t exist.

1 - I have never met him. I keep hearing people going on and on about how God is everywhere. Well I’m pretty well travelled and I’ve never once bumped into him. I also notice that lots of people claim they have heard him speak to them but none of them can give you a physical description. That’s pretty suspicious in my book.

The ExecutionThe ExecutionI picked up the greatest comic book pamphlet EVER from Chick Publications- courtesy of King James Bible Baptist Church in the subway tunnels around and about Times Square, where apparently King James Bible Baptist Church is targeting all of the heathens- me definitely included.

The moral of the comic is the same as the majority of Christian literature I have chanced upon. Do whatever you want throughout your life, but do not scorn the Lord.

Who Follows Him - To Know God pt. 2

Perhaps the most prevalent assumption that comes up if we pursue to seek out such a lofty goal as “knowing God” is the notion that we already do.  That we, most likely in a position of inferiority to a superior being, understand the will, characteristics, and inner workings of a much superior being.  The study of “God” should be a lengthy one, and the pursuit of knowing him an exponentially increasing and lifelong task.

To Know God

By Kevin Schultze

Faith is in the everyday lives of all that walk this earth.  Though it may not be of an admitted religious devotion, each and every one of us charges boldly out into the unknown with a hope of things not yet seen.  For unfortunately human beings are limited within the contexts of time.  We can not go back, and we can not see what is ahead, we can only be sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Whether it is of a belief in the afterlife, or simply the faith that things will be as is when you wake up in the morning; all of us walk out the door each day with an assumption based on faith.
