Be content with what you have.

Be content with what you have.

Hebrews 3:5 summarizes this well.

I don’t know about you, but one thing I struggle with is being content with the things I have. Yes, I am thankful to have all of the things that I have yet, I always seem to want more. I look at what others have and wish that I had more.Hebrews 3:5 says: Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” This is a great verse to remember and I should remind myself of this each and every day. God is always there for me and he has blessed me with so much. He will never leave me and he will never forsake me, so why do I need more than that?

One of the reasons that I feel that I always want more is because there is so much available. There are so many things to buy and so many new gadgets that they continuously keep creating. There are advertisements for so many things, and so on. I am constantly reminded in this world of what I don’t have, but the Bible instructs us to think so much differently than the world.

This is really the premise of what Christianity is and means. As Christians, we are instructed to avoid thinking in worldly ways. Instead we are to focus our lives on Christ and what he has done for us. We are also supposed to focus on what lies ahead in heaven for us.
