To be worldly or not to be

To be worldly or not to be

What the Bible says about this subject is very clear.

As a Christian, I know that I am supposed to find ways to be more God-like rather than world-like. This is something that is hard because the world is everywhere around me. Everywhere I look, I am influenced by things, whether I want to be or not. Becoming more Christ-like is what God wants, and you can read about this in Romans.Romans 12:2 (ESV) says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

By looking at this verse, you will see clearly that we are not to be like the world. The world is evil and it has its own motives. Instead, you we are to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. What exactly does this mean though? How can we be transformed by the renewal of our minds?

I think that the primary way we can do this is by seeking God. To seek God means to look for God; to go after God. We can do this through prayer and through reading the Bible. By soaking in the influence of God, we can begin to be transformed. This is not a process that will happen overnight, though; it will take time. Being transformed is a process and it is a process that Christians will go through their entire lives. It is impossible to become exactly like Christ, and therefore we must strive for this every day of our lives.
