Serving your spouse

Serving your spouse

This is one secret to a great marriage.

There are many secrets to good marriages, but I have recently discovered what I believe is one of the most important. It is the act of serving your spouse. Serving your spouse is something that is important because it essentially is serving God.

God calls spouses to do this. The bodies of a married couple belong to each other, and it is vital to provide your spouse with the things that he or she needs. In order to do this effectively, you must surrender yourself and your own needs to God. Ask God to help you fulfill and satisfy your partner and to not focus on your own needs. God is faithful. If you surrender yourself to this, you may notice a huge change. This can be difficult though. It can be especially hard if you continuously do this and your spouse does not do this in return. You may feel like you are giving way more than your spouse is, and this might be true.

What you need to keep in mind with this is that you are only responsible for yourself. If you serve your spouse in everything, you are doing the right thing. Your spouse will be accountable to God for not doing his part if that is what has happened. Pray to God to give you the strength and the desire to learn what your partner’s needs are and to do them. Always remember that everyone is different. God does not call you to serve your spouse the way that you want to, but rather the way that your spouse needs you to.
