I am a Sinner - How about You?

Why is it that we continue to sin even though we know it is wrong?

Every day I sin. No matter how hard I try not to sin, I still sin. This topic always brings me to the book of Romans. Paul wrote this book and in chapter 7 of the NIV he writes, “For I do not do the god I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do – this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

This entire chapter talks about sinning. Sinning is inevitable. We are just like Paul. We can try not to sin, but for some reason we do it anyways. If you are a Christian you will know that no matter how hard we try, we can never be without sin. God is the only being that is sinless. Think about that – God is sinless. What kind of world would this be if we were all sinless? You can probably begin to imagine it, but I don’t think we can ever fully imagine what this is like.

As a Christian, and a sinner, I set out to be the best person I can be each day. At the end of the day though, I always realize how much I have failed. God’s grace however, is enough to cover this. God sent Jesus to this earth because of this. Jesus is the bridge between us and God, and sin is what separates us. Although sinning is inevitable, we should always try not to do what is wrong.
